Is that t he crazy Kiwi played by Sir Hopkins in The “World’s Fastest Indian”?

Well at least he has a helmet.

Safety head first.

No, that’s Rollie Free setting a speed record of 150 mph on a Vincent Black Shadow while wearing swim trunks.

I have this picture on the wall behind my desk.
For those that don’t know the origin, that’s Rollie Free setting a speed record of 150.313 mph on a Vincent Black Shadow. They stripped off the seat and his clothes in order to attain the record.

Thanks for the background. I had seen the photo before. That’s just all sorts of crazy, though.

Superman on a Fixie. The clothing provides about the same level of protection.

Yeah, having done this sort of speed on a motorcycle, it takes some real cojones to do it laying flat, mostly naked, on salt flats. Especially when you consider how much thinner those tires are compared to modern bikes.

I think of a little front wheel wobble and by testicles disappear. And I don’t even ride. I am, however, very risk-averse.

Yeah, when you start to hit high speeds with skinny tires, bikes start to float around a bit.

That was a hell of a save. I do enjoy watching the TT every year. Those guys are truly, well, not exactly insane. Perhaps insanely dedicated.

Seems like it’d take some serious core strength to lay like that for any period of time too. Holding your legs up like that wouldn’t be trivial.

No, that was Burt Munro.

I just shit my pants in solidarity with #55.

That, and a lot of faith in the structurally integrity of that fender.
